SMART
The SMART Equity Scheme was established for companies that had been formed to exploit intellectual property created within universities. The scheme was a joint venture between Braveheart, the Bank of Scotland and a number of Scottish universities. A SMART fund was established comprising Braveheart clients, Bank of Scotland and Scottish Enterprise and the fund became fully invested in 2006 after making its tenth investment. SMART Equity Scheme investments are now made via the Alpha EIS Fund. To be considered for investment the company concerned must have been awarded a SMART:SCOTLAND Grant by the Scottish Executive and be affiliated to one of the following universities or science parks:
