A spin-out from Bath University, Atlas is developing a ‘point of care’ molecular diagnostic platform for the rapid detection of DNA. The company is currently working on tests for Chlamydia / Gonorrhoea, MRSA, Group B Streptococcus, Bacterial Meningitis and Norwalk Viruses. The company was formed in 2005.

Biopta Ltd
Biopta operates as a niche Contract Research Organisation (CRO) and has established itself as a world leader in the use of human tissues to better predict drug safety and efficacy prior to clinical trials. The company is a spin-out from Glasgow Caledonian University.

Tayside Flow Technologies Ltd
TFT has developed and commercialised novel cardiovascular devices based on a new understanding of blood flow dynamics called Spiral Laminar Flow. By mimicking the physiological features of healthy veins and arteries into the design of grafts and stents, the spiral flow reduces turbulence and sheer wall stresses in vessels, and therefore prevents a build-up of the deposits that would eventually lead to a blockage.

Optos plc
Founded and incorporated in 1992 by Douglas Anderson after his five-year-old son went blind in one eye, Optos commercialised a patient-friendly retinal image product that enables retinal examinations to be made more cheaply, effectively and safely.
